“Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).
God is the light in our life. When we confront with any frustration or trouble, God’s word is the lamp before our feet and the light unto our path, gives us faith and strength. Just as David said, “For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light “ (Psalm 36:9). Other than God, there’s no one else who can bring us light; Other than God, there’s no one else who can bestow upon us the truth, the way and the life; Apart from God, who can we still always follow?
“A world in man’s heart with no place for God is dark, empty without hope. … For without the guidance of God, no matter how much rulers and sociologists wrack their brains to preserve human civilization, it is to no avail. No one can fill the emptiness in man’s heart, for no one can be the life of man, and no social theory can free man from the emptiness with which he is afflicted. Science, knowledge, freedom, democracy, leisure, comfort, these are but a temporary respite.”
