Question: I feel I lived so tiredly. What I planned well always cannot be realized. Why can’t I control everything by myself?

Answer: People often said, “Plans cannot catch up with changes”. It is very common to see in our lives that something we have planned well suddenly changed because of the emergency. Especially we have many plans for our future and dreams, but only very few of them can come true. These things make us very helpless from time to time. We are so confused, why our plans always fail to come true? Why can’t we control all of these things?

Let’s read a passage of God’s word together, “What occupation one chooses, how one makes a living: do people have any control over whether they make a good choice or a bad choice? Do they accord with their desires and decisions? Most people wish they could work less and earn more, not to toil in the sun and rain, dress well, glow and shine everywhere, tower above others, and bring honor to their ancestors. People’s desires are so perfect, but when people take their first steps in the journey of their lives, they gradually come to realize how imperfect human destiny is, and for the first time they truly grasp the fact that, though one can make bold plans for one’s future, though one may harbor audacious fantasies, no one has the ability or the power to realize his or her own dreams, no one is in a position to control his or her own future. There will always be some distance between one’s dreams and the realities that one must confront; things are never as one would like them to be, and faced with such realities people can never achieve satisfaction or contentment. Some people will even go to any length imaginable, will put forth great efforts and make great sacrifices for the sake of their livelihoods and future, in attempt to change their own fate. But in the end, even if they can realize their dreams and desires by means of their own hard work, they can never change their fates, and no matter how doggedly they try they can never exceed what destiny has allotted them. Regardless of differences in ability, IQ, and willpower, people are all equal before fate, which makes no distinction between the great and the small, the high and the low, the exalted and the mean. What occupation one pursues, what one does for a living, and how much wealth one amasses in life are not decided by one’s parents, one’s talents, one’s efforts or one’s ambitions, but are predetermined by the Creator.” “The fate of man is controlled by the hands of God. You are incapable of controlling yourself: Despite always rushing and busying about for himself, man remains incapable of controlling himself. If you could know your own prospects, if you could control your own fate, would you still be a creature?” From God’s word, we get to see that we human beings are created by God and God presides over the fate of all mankind. We can plan what we will do every day, and also can set aims and goals for our whole life to pursue. But whether it is can come true is not controlled by ourselves, because it’s God who rules over everything. If we don’t know this fact but plan and intend to do everything on our own, we’ll surely feel very sad and perplexed when our plans are disrupted by reality. The Bible says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). Only by knowing God’s authority and having a heart of fear of God, can we obey God’s sovereignty and orchestration. If we can submit to God’s orchestrations in all things, there will be true peace and joy in our hearts. Just as God says, “When you truly understand that everything God has planned for and decided for you is a great benefit, and is a great protection, then you feel your pain gradually lighten, and the whole of you become relaxed, free, liberated.
