Now it’s already the period of the last days and the prophecies about the Lord’s return have almost been fulfilled. It is high time to welcome the Lord’s coming and all Christians are earnestly longing for the Lord to come and rapture them to the kingdom of heaven. We all want to be like what it says in Revelation 14:4 “These are they which follow the Lamb wherever he goes.” But where are the footprints of God? And what must we do to follow them?
As we know, the Lord Jesus did the work of crucifixion to redeem the whole mankind in the age of grace. He has forgiven our sins, bestowed the blessings and grace on us, brought the way of repentance and taught us how to confess and repent, how to bear the cross, how to be humble and patient, love and forgive others etc.. All those who followed God’s footprints like Peter, John, Nathanael and so on, saw the Lord’s power and authority from His work and words, recognized His words are God’s voice and the work the Lord Jesus did is not done by an ordinary person but God Himself. This is the main evidence for them to walk out of the temple to accept Jesus’ work.
Likewise, the Lord has prophesied that He would come back in the last days. The Bible says, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:12-13); “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches” (Revelation 2:7); “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20); “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). From these Bible verses, we can see that the Lord will express all the truth of saving mankind as He comes back. He will speak to the churches and knock at the door of man’s heart with words. So, if we want to welcome the Lord and follow His footprints, we have to hear His voice attentively, look for the words spoken to the churches, just like Peter, John, Nathanael and other people who recognized God’s voice at that time. If we find where there is what the Spirit says to the churches, there is the appearance and work of God, and God’s footprints are surely there. If we can recognize God’s voice and follow God’s footprint, then we are the wise virgins being raptured before the throne of God and attend the feast with the Lord.
At last, I’d like to share with you all a Christian devotional hymn: How to Search for God’s Footprints
